Hello, Folks!

1 min read

My name is André Meister.

I'm a Freelance Concept Artist/Illustrator.

I'm in love with drawing and telling stories since the beginning of my existence and that love drove me - and still drives to this day - to pursue art in many ways. Other than drawing, I love singing and writing, not only because of the fun, but because I believe all forms of art are connected in some way.

My biggest illustration/drawing heroes are Leonardo Da Vinci, Yoshihiro Togashi, Akira Toriyama, Masami Kurumada, Rumiko Takahashi, Katsuhiro Otomo, Android Jones, Alfons Mucha, Milo Manara, Simon Beasley, among a lot others.

If you like what you see here, please, feel free to drop me a line, so we can know each other better.

Feel free to check my gallery and ask any questions that come to mind.

I'll answer all of them as soon as I can.

Cheers!

- Meister

I guess it's been forever since I've written something here, so I guess I should put some new words, since I'm going to start new things soon... I'm finishing my portfolio program I made for myself. A curious thing is that you always evolve on your drawings when you work on this, but this time, I've evolved not only artistically, but sentimentally and spiritually.

I'm not where I wanna be, yet, and that's OK, since, quoting AC/DC, "It's A Long Way To The Top If You Wanna Rock N Roll". But coming to the end of this experience, I can't figure another feeling but the one of fulfillment.

I know this is practically a Journey Start, but the great prize for my heart is that I really feel now I'm starting something after seven years of Push-Ups and Sit-Ups... I feel like "The Force" is with me in this. haha. Today I know what it takes to even START it. It's a lot of tears, sweat, blood and prayer, even if you're an atheist, you will be praying even if it is a mantra for your gut.

I really want to see what's waiting for me, and I guess what I've learned so far is that it only ends when it ends... Maybe this last quote doesn't really make sense to you guys, specially for people who don't know me, but keep in mind that one... One day maybe you'll get it. ;)

Cheers

New Start

2 min read
What can I say? I'm used to the new year's eve as anybody else, but it always gets me... Sadam Husseim got executed two days ago, and maybe it was good... for TV, powerfull politicians...

Actually, I'm not impressed... I found it quite normal, excessively usual. A dictator died... Big Deal... What I'm really impressed about is the ammount of people who saw it as a history mark, a step to the badly patched sense of freedom, justice, beauty and peace that we try to reach with our tired hands, without noticing the handcuffs we wear.

These words might seem a little suffered for me, but I think the entire world needs to take off the blindfold and see that we always fall for the same mistakes... I don't find it unusual nor amusing that the world saw the dictator from Iraq dying by hanging... I find it amusing that after 60 000 years of existance, every leader still puts his people fighting for money and territory using poetry as a shield to get men fighting for it... It does not matter who lives or who dies... Who is in charge or not or in what social-cultural time you live in... Nobody is noble, and nobody is a hero... No one is expected more than they can give, and I find it pretty ridiculous to say to a man who lost his legs and arms that he is a hero because he fought and gave his members to his country... If this soldier knew for sure, if he saw through the lies they put in front of him to ease his pain, would he ever had considered going to war in the first place?

Newsflash

'Tis been a while since I posted something here. I guess I should have a lot to talk about here, but the truth is I've been really busy trying to get into the Illustration business. It's a hard way to go, but finally I'm getting some cool results, like this one here, Mr. Jack. I've done this one as a test to a big company and it so happens that I got it published in a magazine. They've already asked for more, so I'm pretty excited. I hope this turns out to be my launch in the career.

I'm also thinking about getting an animation course, but it's rather expensive. I know I'd be really good if I got it right, but I think it's overwealming to make this course without previous prepare. So I'm thinking of going there and getting to know the place as it is. If I decide something, I'll let you guys know.

In other news, O "eu" cotidiano, my little comic stories just got a community at orkut. If you wanna check it out, here is the link:

www.orkut.com/Community.aspx?c…

Have fun! I'm still preparing. soon I'll have it translated to English

Cheers!

Nice Surprise

1 min read
Nice surprise coming from deviantART. The lay outs are better, not only on looks, but it's divided, so that people can see my work through cattegory, instead of just the first one... It's very organized! I'm really glad 'cause it helps my clients and friends to find themselves when they're looking for something... Anyway, more drawings incoming! see ya soon! :headbang:
